there is a tendon there...the Achilles perhaps? trying to equate the same in a person. Achilles injuries can be bad in people. I'd have him on complete utter cage rest aside from potty breaks and on aspirin, and be applying heat...he goes in Friday yes? There is a problem in some breeds with swollen hocks...think a fever accompanies it...have you taken a temp? Probably want to do that...should be under 102.

That is it still swollen on day...what is this day 3? is worrisome.

I've been keeping him out of his crate because he only seems to rest in it at night, crating him during the day gets him upset... but we've been on top of him every time he tries to get up to help him and not let him get worked up. He only gets up sometimes to walk across the living room and lay down on the tile (and then back to the beds once he's had enough of the tile)

He's on baby aspirin, had his 3rd dose this morning. that pic was last night, but there isnt really any change today. we're at 36 hours now, I guess (started limping Tuesday night)

I was hoping for less swelling today, but I can see it from here, it doesnt look good. Weird thing is that the swellng didnt start till yesterday. I could feel it mid-morning, but I couldnt see it till late afternoon, it had gotten worse over the day

Today he is, yes. Yesterday he did in the morning, but it was shortlived and he held it up the rest of the day (and needed help getting up off the floor)

hmmm...maybe the more he uses it the worse it feels. That'd kinda go along with a sprain I think. Bummer he doesn't sleep on his back because elevaltion helps a LOT! Is there any way you could shave the area to see if there's bruising or a bite or anything there? You haven't noticed and point of entry or wound even tiny there?

he sleeps on his back sometimes, to air out the boy-bits, but no more or less than one side or the other. I can try to shave it to see if there's a bruise, I cant imagine there's a bite or puncture unless it was REAL slow. He hadnt been outside in hours before he started limping. I THINK he may have had a small slip on the floor, because he likes to run between the pantry and the "dining area" when its dinner time. I know he was fine before I fed them. I've seen this dog wipe out hard before, so he may have had a tiny slip and I didnt think anything of it because it was nothing... I wish I knew for sure
