Awesome. Cancer sucks. We have a friend our age that has non-hogkins lymphoma. He has just gone through Chemo in prep for a bone marrow transplant. The day before the transplant they found a huge mass on his lungs, this was last week. So no transplant and on to plan B...well, I think they're on W at this point.

I am going to request these days off and can we join you? I was just notified of a good friend in MN who has survived breast cancer now has lung cancer and is not expected to live. I am having a hard time accepting that this strong, funny, incredible woman who did many many of her own fundraiser walks and whom I loved like a mother is not going to be around. So I really want to do this and military be damned I will be there.

I'm going to tell them tomorrow at work. Should I sign up as an individual or do you have a team?

They don't have the team function available here, so you'd have to sign up on your own. My experience is that these events are very small, which is nice. Last year, I won 3 of 5 raffle items I signed up for, plus got an extra "gift" for getting Indy to do her "sit pretty" in front of a crowd. If I can get Dan to join, I will bring Indy too. Actually, you can join w/o signing up and paying the extra fee - it just means you don't get a t-shirt.

I am also very sorry about your friend. Forgot to mention that previously.

Apparently August is our big cancer fundraiser month - I have 3 of them.

Hmmm, maybe you don't get a t-shirt unless you raise $250. What a racket. I got one last year and I don't remember raising that much.

    So sorry, Kendra ((hugs))

Although obviously every situation is different, my mother was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer in January and basically told she wouldn't make it to my wedding or to see her first grandchild born in June. She's doing significantly better than she was a few months ago, although there have been bumps along the way. We'll get the results of her latest PETscan on Tuesday, but from the last one we found out 75-80% of her cancer was gone. It's amazing the progress that has been made in even the past year. I've done tons of research.

I keep telling her I'm going to take pictures from my wedding and of her with my nephew into the doctors who told her that in the beginning.

Kendra - post your page up here too. I am up around $300 now, so it's time for someone else to get some contributions.

I can always have a small get together that afternoon/evening. No pool, though.
