Pam, this is the first time it has ever happened. They've had some diarrhea/ loose stools before after being boarded but it usually went away after a day or so but not this time. I wish i could afford right now to take them over there a couple of days a month just to get used to being away from me for a while but alas that is not to be until things turn around a bit in my transcription world...

Great that it's a simple solution. I'm so glad it is nothing very serious.

Glad to hear it is all fixable! I hope they get feeling better soon - incontinence is not fun for them or us.

Well we no longer have to wait for the rubbery pad pieces to pass because Rudy left me a prize in my office during the night... he threw up the rubber stuff and the grass ingested during his lick fit. It's amazing how he had eaten 2 meals of chicken and rice in between but there were only a couple of grains of rice in the whole thing... but at least I know it's not stuck somewhere now... HEHE...

So glad it's a quick fix for all of your sakes. Did you discuss the rimadyl with your vet? I know it's not popular, but I've had dogs do very well on rimadyl therapy for arthritic conditions. No accidents in the house or other tummy problems from it. If it makes JJ comfortable, and the house soiling problem was probably unrelated, you might want to keep some around for her bad days.

I talked with him about it. He said GI issues could be side effects but that he felt what was occurring was unrelated. Her symptoms were probably caused by the very bad UTI she had (bad mom for letting it go too long...) and the colon bug... He said if i felt uncomfortable with the Rimadyl that we can use any number of other antiinflammatory meds. He mentioned Deramaxx, tramodol, and a few others... I have some tramodol left and will just be giving her that on a PRN basis. It is the least expensive and is a combination pain reliever and inflammatory. If that does not manage it we will consider something else. He talked again about Adequan but i was afraid to ask the cost. Unfortunately that is a consideration right now as my work load has been less the last couple of months except for hits and misses and our budget is tight. We have money saved up for our trip in September and a little extra for cushion should we have an emergency expense.

I'm so glad you have answers. I know that Deramaxx gives BAD gas.

For meds, are you getting them from your vet or at a pharmacy? Sometimes you can get them online or at wal-mart for super cheap. For example, one of Copper's meds would have been $350/month at one pharmacy but at Costco it was $45.

Hoping for quick healing for all of you this week.

Well, we've only gotten the one prescription and that was from the vet. Some of the meds we can get from Walgreen's. I'll have to check into Sam's Club and see. I believe we have enough gas now... more is not needed... LOL! Not sure yet what we will end up doing for a maintenance med for her.
