Default Had our first lick fit last night...

2 Pepto's and a GasX (along with some peanut butter to help the medicine go down) and he felt good as new almost immediately...

Casualty report before I woke up and realized what was happening:

-Part of the kitchen rug (he's chewed that up a bit before)
-about a 3 inch by 4 inch area of carpeting on the edge of the bottom stair (I woke up hearing him ripping at something, I thought he was going after his rawhide vigorously but it was actually the carpet...)

At least we have the carpet guys coming in a few weeks to do the basement so we'll just tack this on to that job... *sigh*

Ugh. What's with the Swissies and lick fits lately? Sorry about the damage. We had similar damage to the stair landing from Gryffin, but it wasn't from a lick fit. It was "just because" I guess.

Sorry... definitely know how you feel. Glad he recovered quickly. When Rudy's is full blown like that he wants nothing but to go outside and eat grass.

The grass was too low to the ground for him so he just ate the japanses iris leaves... Oh and he also went after the basil plant... At least he had nice smelling breath for once! LOL!

I wonder if it has to do with the freakish heat and pressure changes that come with the storms. Cash, Baron and Toby are all Midwestern Swissies and have all had licky fits in the last 10 days while the weather has been freakishly hot with lots of overnight storms. I have to wonder if there's a correlation. Cash's breeder told me after Cash's licky fit that a vet she knows says she sees a drastic increase in gastric distress when the weather is odd and the pressure is fluctuating.

    Glad Toby felt better quickly.

That could have something to do with it. We've also had some big changes happening at our place recently so I'm sure that all the change isn't helping things for the big guy, either...

You'll just have to come on Saturday to Deb's place to get your Toby fix.

I was wondering the same thing about the heat and pressure. And they're all males.

I think they're all growing males...we had a bunch between ages 1 & 3 and then they tapered off. I'm glad Toby is ok. I think one of Karen's dogs ate an entire fake plant (wire and all?) during a lick fit.

Seems something is up. Im glad Toby's was easily resolved. Did he vomit up the carpet? Baron's was on a night that it stormed early in the morning, about 1am and that is roughly..give or take 30 min... that I was up with him. But I do know the storm was over by the time I woke up.

He threw up some/most of it. Had a big pile of frothy stuff at the foot of the stairs that I got to clean up... hopefully he was alright during the day, but he seemed fine this morning. We sequestered him to his bare kennel for the rest of the night to make sure he didn't get into anything else if it returned.

I don't remember if I'd ever seen back to back lickies. I'll have to ask Jared. We did put digestive enzymes and pepcid in Copper's dinner, that seemed to help a lot.

Copper ate a diaper and he threw it up a week later. Just as a reference point.

    What changes are those?
If dogs could talk, it would take a lot of the fun out of owning one. ~Andy Rooney
