Cash passed his Canine Good Citizen evaluation tonight! We're pretty proud about now. Now we're going to start doing some rally classes. We'll see how that goes.

What an accomplishment! Congrats!!!
That's awesome!!!! Way to go Cash and Jen!!
Thanks! To give credit where credit is due, Ram handles Cash at obedience class and was the handler during the evaluation tonight. We both work him during the week, so it was a group effort.

Congrats! Are you thinking of doing competitive obedience with him at all?

Wowie that is awesome! He is so young to have accomplished that! Congrats!
Too bad you cannot celebrate this weekend with a dip in Deb's pool... *hint*

Awesome! We did Rally, its really fun. It is constant moving which Copper always liked. He got bored with the repetition of an obedience class. I bet Cash will be a Rally star!
That is wonderful, congratulations!!! Have fun with Rally, I'm sure he'll do great. I felt the same way about competitive obedience, but we kept going to class because we really enjoyed our trainer and what we were getting out of class. Duke was more than ready to enter the ring, so we went for it...and I'm so glad we did. We're working on CDX stuff now, and if we still lived in IL with our old trainer I know he'd already have his CDX title and be working on Utility. We haven't found a good trainer down here, which I'm pretty bummed about, but we're working on our own and getting pointers from our IL trainer as we go, but it's really slowed us down. I have to say that doing obedience with Duke has given us such a strong bond that we haven't gotten from any of the other activities that we participate in.

Way to go Jen, Ram and Cash!
Was just curious, Jen. I always meant to do it with Gryffin because he was awesome and LOVED the attention. But I never got off my butt and entered us, even in a fun match. I'm hoping to do it with Ozzy, assuming he actually likes it. Same with rally, assuming I can find a good trainer. The classes themselves forge such a great bond between dog and handler...

Thanks everyone!
I'm not even sure we will do rally competitively. I mostly see it as a way to continue training in a way that keeps it fun and interesting. That said, if he does really well, I will probably try for a title on him.
Our current training school doesn't currently offer the more advanced obedience classes that would be needed for competition. They focus more on the day-to-day living with a polite dog stuff. It is a fairly new school (3 years now) and so they are still building their group class offerings mostly based on the interest level of their client base. They also have a day school with a 4-week puppy program and then various one-week advanced programs. They do offer rally and therapy dog training group classes though. Last night I was talking with the director of the school and he said he was considering offering more advanced obedience for competition. If they offer it, I could see us trying it out. So, for now, we're going to start rally and do some of the Outdoor Adventure classes they offer, which are just a group of people, trainer and dogs going to various places (hiking, patio of a local watering hole, ice cream shop, grounds of the art museum, etc...) to continue training in various environments and have fun. We already take Cash a lot of places, but it would be fun to do it with a group of other dogs and have the trainer there to help tweak behaviors.

Good job to all of you!
