    Default Nulo dog food?

    Anyone heard of this food?

I read about it on the Paw Curious blog and am, um, curious.

I'd heard of it, and checked out their website a few weeks ago. It seems alright, but I'm going to stick with Acana.

Seems like they have a lot of "fillers" (chicken formula)- Brown Rice, Oatmeal, Dried Peas, Brewers Rice, Chicken Fat (Naturally Preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Citric Acid), Brewers Dried Yeast, Dried Beet Pulp, Dried Sweet Potatoes- pretty high up on their ingredients list. Compared to say- Taste of the Wild- which is about $10 cheaper per bag. Chicken meal as the 2nd ingredient...I don't count any "meal" as a meat source- just like hot dogs. I could be wrong.

Yeah, I saw that. But one of my dogs does pretty well with "fillers." Actually, he does better than he does on foods w/o fillers.

I could be wrong, but I thought meal was good because it meant more meat. If just chicken (for example) is listed as the first ingredient it's really much further down on the list because there's a lot of water, bone, etc. But, with chicken meal it is actually a good representative of the amount that is in the food. The Acana Pacifica I feed - which is made by Champion, same as Orijin, has boneless salmon, salmon meal, and herring meal as the first 3 ingredients. I thought that was really good because with the meals it meant a lot of meat, am I wrong?

And, the fillers listed don't seem that awful, like there's no corn, so that's good. But, I definitely don't think it is better than a lot of stuff out there, and it's probably not worth the price. I'm no food expert either though.

There is definitely better out there. I actually saw this on a rather popular vet's blog. She's using one of the formulas for her dog to help w/weight loss. The price is not that much different than the Red Moon stuff, and I don't like the ingredients as much.
