    Default So mad...at me!!

So, Cash and I were out for our walk this morning. He had his pack on and I took the Gentle Leader with me, but did not make him wear it - we usually only put it on him if he starts to pull these days. With the pack he is a very well-mannered boy. So we were 3/4 through our walk and he had been great the whole time. We had passed several dogs and he was interested, but very well behaved. We were coming up on a man with a poodle. I thought about crossing the street because Cash was quite interested in the poodle, but decided to just cut wide and keep Cash close and tight. He was still doing great. As we got closer the man said his girl loves to play. I commented that Cash does, too, but his play might overwhelm her. He clearly wanted to let them greet and I almost kept walking, but for whatever reason, I paused. Cash lunged to greet the poodle (not a very Good Citizen, Cash!!) and my foot hit the damp grass, slid and I was on my butt. Mad & embarrassed. My own fault. I think he had just been doing so great and I let my guard down. He just wanted to play and got excited. This man lives a few blocks up the street so I will surely see him again and I'm sure he thinks my puppy is out of control (I certainly wasn't in control while on my butt, huh?!), though he didn't seem too worried about it. My ego and pride are hurt the worst, but I do think I strained my back a bit. Ugh!!

Oh, no! Hope your back is okay. At least the Poodle's owner was good about it. They say with Swissies it's important to have a good sense of humor...and I guess now would be one of those times for you. Not really a fun way to start off your day though. Sorry. Duke and Ruger love to pass/meet/see other dogs on their walks too, so I know exactly what you were describing. I'll make sure to watch out for that wet grass.

So sorry! I know from experience that isn't fun. I'm sure the poodle owner understands. I mean, Cash is big ... it's not like he's a yorkie or something

Okay, I am able to kind of laugh about it now. What I failed to mention is that when my foot hit the grass it slid forward and I was on my butt....doing the splits! Right by a fairly busy intersection and in front of a friend's house. Nice! The image of what I must have looked like is pretty comical in retrospect.

Ok, glad you're laughing 'cause I may have snickered just a little. I think about all the times I landed on my butt because of a sudden cat sighting...I'm glad you weren't hurt...but I can list a couple times I was. LOL!

Well, maybe this story will make you feel better.

My friend had a similar experience when she and her dog saw her Pastor walking with his family. Her dog turned, and in his moment of excitement, pulled her to the ground (only, not on her butt but her stomach). She got up, approached her pastor, and began talking. She couldn't understand why the Pastor and his family were avoiding eye contact and quick to get away. Could it have been they were embarrassed by her dog's behavior? Nope, when she got home and looked in the mirror she understood. She was wearing a tank top and no bra for her quick little walk. When she fell, one of her, um, er, "girls" popped out and she didn't know it.

ROFL! She still cringes when she thinks about it.

    Okay, I feel better now.

(But, now I feel bad for feeling better at someone else's expense!)
