Default Please think positive thoughts for Oliver

In addition to his arthritis, Laryngeal Paralysis, and neurodegeneration in his hind end, I am very very very afraid of his latest symptom.

He's going to the vet tomorrow at noon for x-rays because he's started licking his front left elbow and he is now hesitant to use this leg to climb up onto the couch as of today. I've been helping him to make sure his rear end got up there but I cannot lift him and he does not want to put weight on his front left leg. I've been helping him up from laying down lately, too, and I was thinking it was due solely to the hind-end weakness but now I fear that it's because his front leg is problematic, too. He's on so many supplements and pain meds. I want him to have a good quality of life and not suffer so this new issue is just another blow to keeping him feeling OK.

I'm very afraid he has osteosarcoma there as that is a common giant breed dog diagnosis.
Our appointment is tomorrow and Oliver and I would greatly appreciate any positive thoughts or prayers that things will be OK.

    Thanks

    Thanks so much, everyone!
I do not know what to do with myself today. I'm beside myself with worry. And, I just found out that raw feeding is acidifying and could make arthritis symptoms worse. Have any of you ever heard that before?

I had not heard that. But I know very little about anything, so don't rely on me. Try this:

Only other thing I see about acid/ph is in regards to bladder infections, which does not seem to be affiliated exclusively to raw fed dogs.

I will be thinking of you and Oliver today.

Oh Sam I sure hope poor Oliver doesn't end up with Osteo. I had never heard anything at all about raw being bad for Arthritis. I am sending lots of prayer your way for you and Oliver.

Thanks everyone. He's just having such a bad day. He fell down in the yard while trying to go to the bathroom. I caught him as he was falling and had to help him inside. I'd given him Tramadol for the pain he seems to be in and that makes him a little shaky. I am hoping the collapse is just due to the tramadol, but I am very worried. He's been my most amazing boy since I was 24 years old. I've basically grown up as an adult with him and we have just been through so much together. I just cannot put to words how awful this feels to watch him struggle so much. I know many of you know how awful it is and I am so sorry you know how it feels to watch and not be able to do a lot. I'll let you know what happens tomorrow. thanks so much for your sweet words, everyone.
