He'll be right as rain in just a matter of oh hours... boys hardly notice it and get back to regular life almost immediately. Hope he has an uneventful surgery and is home trying to lick his boy parts tonight

I got a call from the vet around 1:00 this afternoon that everything went well, his spleen looked good (it stayed), and instructions to pick him up around 6:30 - 7:00 this evening so they could keep an eye on him. Since we've been home all he wants to do is cuddle, I'm okay with that . He's eaten twice (1/4 cup each time) and had some water.

He looks pretty pitiful, doesn't he? Poor thing.

These are the 'stairs' I made him to get out of the car

...yep, coolers with carpets on top, classy, I know! But, it did the trick. I did have to take the cone off to get him to use them, and it hasn't been back on since. I'll put it on when I can't supervise though, just to be safe.

They had put some sort of ointment on/in? his eyes

::WARNING:: if you're squeamish, scroll fast past this one.

    He has staples...

And, these were from this morning when he had no idea what his day would hold.

Thanks again for all of your advice, it's much appreciated.

Aww, poor boy! LOL! I'm glad he's safe and home with you. The staples look pretty much like what Indy had, although he doesn't look like he's got a smiley face.

Looks great wearing the cone of shame!
They put that ointment in to keep their eyes from drying out...some dogs don't close their eyes during surgery even though they are sound asleep...

Glad he is at home recovering.

I'm glad it went well and I also like how you got shots of the man-berries before they were gone!

Thanks, Kim. I figured there must be a reason for it, but I had no clue as to what it was.

Our boys didn't have a stomach tack, but Ace and Gunner came home just fine from their neuters..bouncing around like nothing had changed. Our biggest problem was keeping them slowed down.

aawww just saw the pics...sweet boy! oh and our guys hated the cone of shame LOL

Aww! Duke is so handsome, even post surgery. I can't believe he tollerates the collar. I had it on Saphera for all of 30 seconds. It immobilized her (LOL). She was so freaked out by it she wouldn't move. There was no way I cold keep it on her; I thought she'd have a heart attack.

I wanted to ask, was it the spay that made it a 'smiley face' or was that all her stomach tack? He's got a lot more going on lower than what I showed and that's the neuter and scrotal ablation part, the pic was just of the stomach tack. I will say everything is still looking pretty good today.

So glad he is home where he belongs! And a double thanks for the Cone of Shame shot...too cute!

Terri, we couldn't keep Tink's cone on either. She walked into the house and then hung her head with the cone part resting on the floor...it was pitiful

I think Indy's smiley face scar was from the Pexy. That and her ginormous nipples.

Oh! I'm glad he's doing well. I bet you wont ever need the cone. Hugs big guy!

Just a side note...Copper's incision looked very similar with the red marks and stuff and they said that was pretty normal. Just bruising.
