    Default Lick Fits and Raw

Ok 2 Questions. Lowe was laying on my bed licking my sheets. Not hard or fast just licking to the point there was a damp spot the size of a dinner plate.

Would that be considered a lick fit.

Second are lick fits directly associated with raw? Or can dogs that eat kibble get them also.

Finally she has done this before but not sure if she ever did it before she was switched to raw. But I think she did.

Also when looking at her tummy she did not feel gassy or distended.

My dogs do that occasionally but it is not like the Swissy people describe it where that is the sole focus and they 'have' to do it. I've never considered what my dogs do a lick fit at all -- and Oliver did that before I switched him to raw and he did it when he was on raw sometimes, too. Milton sometimes licks things, but it is not a frantic type thing. I"m sure someone who is more familiar with lick fits will chime in, though.

I don't think it has anything to do with raw. Even my little ones sometimes will lick my comforter. I wonder sometimes if It has the scent of a lotion I have put on or something like that.

Many Swissy people have had a significant reduction in lick fits after switching to raw, but dogs on kibble and raw both get them. Cash has had them on both. Cash does the licking you are describing daily...often. That calm, laying licking one spot until it is completely soaked licking is very common at my house.

A lick fit comes with gulping and uncontrollable licking. It's manic. Cash looks panicked and cannot stop when he gets going. It is not a lay in one place and lick kind of thing. It is "move around and lick everything because I'm uncomfortable." They are not settled at all during one. Truly manic is the best word I can think of to describe it.

lick fits have nothing to do with raw... Rudy still gets them all the time and he is kibble fed now. JJ has never gotten one that i am aware of....

When Rudy has a lick fit, it is frantic... the tongue in and out of the mouth rapidly, licks the floors or whatever is handy and tries to chew on things - prefers to get grass or crackers - but if no one is home anything is game (that's only happened once when he ate the corner of a rug) -
