    Default We're a go

    just wanted to officially say it. Cleo will be bred hopefully in the next couple of months. I am really looking forward to the journey and hopefully things go well. She should come in season in May or perhaps even end of April...so send those fertility vibes as much as you can, guys. This could be the start of a whole new direction for us.

    I have picked out a prefix for this litter and perhaps others if things end up that way. I am not sure I am 100% switching breeds at this time. Leo's still are very intimidating from a breeding standpoint because of all the foreign pedigrees, exotic illnessess, and various types..much less straightforward and "known" to me than the hounds.

    But I am counting on the counsel of someone in the know, and my own pretty reliable gut instinct and breeding/genetics know how, to at least see that this breeding is done only with the best of intentions and all due dilligence owed to the breed.

    lol. Cleo is amazing with kids. As a breed they are known in their native Germany as "Nanny Dogs" all cautions applied, and socialization done...they have a very natural affinity for children. Caretaking in general really.

    Its funny because i did actually consider them when I first started researching dog breeds. But alas.. swissies have stolen my heart! I can totally see the nanny dog element in cleo.. especially with those pictures of her and the kitties. SO CUTE! She's gonna be such a good mommy. I can't wait to see the updates!

    Like the others, I wonder what it will be like to have her part with her pups when the time comes...but thank dog she has so many pups in the form of skin kids, beagles, kitties, reptiles, and other family members that maybe the parting won't be such sour sorrow.
