    Default Bogey is starving!!!1

Since I am using Petflow.com I have been adding a smaller bag of something different for some variety each month. Birdie really doesn't care what I put in her bowl - it could be dirt with some rocks on top and she would eat it before she knew it was something different.

But I have noticed with Bogey (and especially this month) that since I added the Fromm Pork and Apples to the Orijen Red Meat (which he LOVES) that he is STARVING! As in whining, begging, starving...

He is at his maximum allowable quantity especially now that it is summer and long walks are out of the questions. I've added green beans to the Fromm/Orijen mix but it doesn't seem to be doing the trick.

Out of desperation I bought a small bag of Evo Red Meat yesterday and mixed it in with the other stuff. He is totally satisfied today. He hasn't asked for food once.

The WDJ is not that concerned about the Natura purchase by P&G (and they make some good points about why I shouldn't be either).

I know several of you are feeding Fromm and/or Orijen. Have you noticed that your dogs are hungrier? Evo's protein content couldn't be that much higher????

I will say that Bogey has never looked as healthy as he does when he eats Evo.

Do you know what the protein % is in each. I am not any help since I feed raw. I just know Pat Miller gave me a smiley face on Jasper's profile for feeding raw LOL

Mine are fed raw and are the size of coffee tables and would still gnaw on my human flesh if they could get away with it.

ditto... though i do feed Fromm but i use the Gold kind for seniors/less active. that way i can feed them a little more each day in quantity with less fat and calories.

Evo (fish) is the only kibble Truman will eat and Kennedy is dying to get some in her bowl.

I just looked at the protein levels for those you listed

Fromm pork & applesauce 24% protein
    Orijen Red 38%
    Evo RedMeat 44%

I do not think Fromm was Lowes fav either but she would eat it. then again she may not have liked it becasue it made her feel bad. Freedom LOVES it and no complaining.

Thanks Laura...I was going to do that comparison today...It would seem to me that if he ate a combo of Fromm and Orijen the protein content would be close enough to the Evo...

All I know is that he has never been an extremely "hungry" dog and he is now.

I know this is an old post, trying to play some catch up here. I was a faithful EVO dog mom with Buddy, my springer, and also with Greta in the beginning. I had no complaints but was not happy when P & G bought them out, like everyone else. But we ultimately ended up switching Great to Orijen, and we alternate between the different ones, but we do now buy her senior, even though she is only 3, because, sigh, she was starting to get a big butt, and vet was NOT happy. The ki-calorie content was significantly lower in the senior and it has worked wonders for her....she is starting to get back her girlish figure, LOL! She is starving, always, so I don't notice the difference. The lady who runs the place that we buy it did say this, the stuff is so appetizing that her cats literally try to claw the bag to get into it, so I wonder if it could be that it's just so tasty he wants more? You could buy him the senior, if it is available, and then give him a little more? Greta only gets 3 cups a day, total, half morning, half night, and a very small handful in her kong once a day, so I would say she probably gets 3 1/2 cups a day. I do still buy EVO canned food for Taffy, since that cat, like Birdie, would eat rocks if I put it in his bowl, Beep, on the other hand will not touch EVO, and will howl like she is being murdered if I run out of her canned wellness and try to sneak some EVO in her bowl. EVO is cheaper for me than wellness, so I buy EVO for Taffy, and Wellness for her highness, who will not eat anything but. She was a former "kibble-a-holic", and she still once a day gets a "very" small amount of kibble in the evening, but none for Taffy, who is prone to urinary blockage if he eats dry. Taffy has had no issues with the EVO, but I do have to say this, when I fed them both wellness, his coat looked amazingly better. I don't know what it is about that stuff, but my cats GLOW on wellness, but since I was going broke feeding both fat assed cats wellness, I put Taffy on EVO, since, as formerly mentioned, he would eat anything, including a piece of poo, if I put it in his bowl. Beep eats about 1/3 as much as Taffy so one cat on wellness is not so bad, but trying to keep Taffy's fat ass happy on it was breaking the bank! I am still very satisfied with the EVO products as of now, and hopefully if they decide to change the formula, we will know, but until then, I'm OK with it, and will give some to Greta if I get into a pinch and run out of her Orijen, and she always does fine. I still like the Orijen better, and obviously Bogey does too!
