OK so Im pretty much convinced now to get a Kindle or Noon. Probably Kindle. One last question. How does it handle the heat? On the amazon site there is a picture of a lady at the beach with hers not using an umbrella. Today I went to the pool and my ipad an iphone shut down from the heat. I got those heat warnings, sigh. How does the Kindle do in the heat?

I've been stealing my hubby's kindle (latest Game of Thrones book was too much temptation) and reading it outside on the porch where it's right around 100 degrees. It was in the shade, but I've also left it in my black truck, with a black interior for several hours, and it still seems to work just fine. My magellan gps in the same truck, played dead until I held in front of the airconditioner vents for 5 minutes.

They're fine I read all the time outside here in high temps. I love it too much to purposefully try to fry it to truly test it tho lol!

I've used it in Mexico and Florida, and other places w/high temps. No issues.

I just took my nook to Florida as well and it was fine. I was usually in the direct sunlight with it too. I try to put that and my iphone in my beach bag under a shirt when I am not using it thought...just in case

I just got a kindle for my birthday. Nice to read all the good review, I was on the fence and couldn't decide. Glad someone did it for me. Now I can go to the library thread.

yes but the cheapest K has the ads on it...might be worth spending a bit more to NOT have to deal with those IMO.

The ads are on the screen saver and the home screen. Not supposed to be when you're in the book. My new Touch will have the ads on it.

Mine has ads on it. Screensaver only that I've noticed. Not on books. You can remove it for $30 in your account.
