I must confess to playing with their mouths too! I can grab Truffle and tow him around by his lower jaw, and he knows not to close down on a person. Part of it was wanting him used to having his face handled for the showring, but the rest is just obnoxious me torturing the puppy (he loves the game!).
My dogsitter tells me that the only way she can imagine getting bitten by Truffle, is if she fell arm-first into his open mouth and then her body slammed down on his head to close the jaws!

I'm just a wee bit jealous of the fabulous training school and methods you have available. You guys will rock!

We have always played with Cash's mouth, too. When he was tiny we would yelp if he was even a little too rough. He seemed to decide that humans are quite fragile. He is still a bit mouthy, but so incredibly gentle. Our whole family has been in Cash's face and mouth since day one and as a result he has no problem with people getting right down in his face or really doing anything to him. He is a bit mouthy sometimes with us (not others), but would never even consider applying pressure in any way.

I consider this very different than the ankle-nipping/herding behavior that Cash tried out at about 4-5 months old. He figured out that he didn't need to herd the kids, though, and all has been well. It was a short-lived phase.

Sounds like you have great tools at your disposal! I can't wait to hear about your puppy classes!
