    Default memory foam/orthopedic dog beds??????

I don't know if this topic has been discussed before, if it has, someone point me in the right direction, please. If not, I would love to hear some suggestions for an orthopedic or memory foam dog bed. I have been doing searches on the internet till my fingers are sore and there's too many choices. Hopefully, someone has tried one they just love. Thanks!!

this is probably not the popular answer, but I do the beds myself. You can buy foam from a supplier and use a pet bed cover. You can also just buy eggcrate foam at any store (mattress cover type stuff) and layer that with a regular pet bed and put a camping high-density foam mattress beneath.

I made a bed for a 150# guy that was so thick and dense that I would have been very happy to sleep on it myself. Also, this way you can make any size if you can get a cover the right size (you can use a heavy weight duvet for a cover).
a place like this will sell you foam: http://www.tedcoindustries.com/

if the foam ever gets packed down, you just replace that layer of the bed.

I remember there were some foam bed recommendations on this site:

this discusses kuranda but also several others: http://www.loveofthedog.com/showthre...highlight=foam

I actually saw a really nice one at Sam's the other night for $30. I believe it was made by Serta.

I considered buying it for Birdie - not because she needs the orthopaedic support but because she has almost totally worn out her sofa bed.
I decided against it because she really likes the sofa bed bolster.

I got one on overstock.com last year for Beowulf that was ginormous and big enough for Swissies (because I figured they'd be using it too). It wasn't every expensive, although I'd have to look up how much it was. Otherwise, I recommend going to BB&B (unless you find them on sale somewhere) and making your own. You could get a twin size memory foam mattress topper and cut to the right length.

I bought a queen size one( memory foam not egg crates) for Daisy and made it three layers thick. Seriously I would have slept on it any day. It was big enough for me to sleep on. LOL
She loved it. She always laid on it.

Don't tell the husband but 2 weeks ago Costco had some 37" x 42" (54" would have been better but hey- good price) dog beds for $19.97, I got 2 then I picked up the gel foam twin size mattress topper - cut it, stuffed it inside the beds and now have 2 cozy beds.

I went to Joann's when they were having their half off sale and got their 4" dense foam and cut it to size for the hounds, put a pretty Molly Mutts cover on them (because I don't sew, or I would have sewn it myself) and ended up with two HUGE pup beds.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I ordered some beds from Overstock.com. Wish I had the time, talent or patience to tackle making one myself but that's pretty much in the same category as cooking for me. I appreciate all the ideas, though!
