I have been feeding Greta Orijen dog food for a while, and a few times that we ran out of it, could not get it for a few days at a time, we resorted to having to make do with what we could get, and during those times we would give her natural balance canned dog food, either chicken and sweet potato, venison and sweet potato or duck and potato. She LOVES the canned food, obviously, since it seems to be way more attractive than plain dry food. I have noticed that when she is on a diet of solely the kibble, she drinks lots and lots of water, and when we give her the canned, she does not gulp the water. Which leads me to believe that can might be better for her, but at the time we are doing dry orijen in the am and a cann of NB in the pm. I do not believe that NB is the best canned dog food out there. I know there have been recalls in the past. She LOVES this brand though! It smells very good too, you can really smell the sweet potato and she has zero problems digesting it. I am out here searching for a better quality canned food, thinking there has to be a better one out there. The cats eat wellness canned, they love it, however, there is something in Wellness that makes Greta itch, so it is a no go, and the few times I tried to feed it to her, she didn't even seem to want it. She did love the dry, but the single ingredient canned, wouldn't touch it. So, can any of you out there that feed canned food tell me what you feed and trust? I would like to think I can trust NB, but I think I can do better. Does anyone know for sure, is it true that most canned food is made in 3 or 4 plants around the US anyway? I had heard this before, I believe it was on the Orijen website that I read it. It is absolutely noticable that dry food only makes her drink more water, which can't be a good thing. Would love to hear what you guys use.
Thanks!
Lee Ann
