    Default Janey's Hot Spot

If you are squeamish don't look. It actually looks better already and she is not as frantic as she was. Talk about a sore looking bottom. I feel so bad for her. She has had a steroid injection, antibiotic capsules and spray.

    Steroids and usually gentacin spray.

    poor Janey!
We've never had one like that here. Janey's is quite awful looking. I'm glad she's feeling better already.

Melanie, for hotspots that have happened here (that have not been so big), I usually just clip the hair nearby and keep it clean with an antiseptic cleaning solution and keep it dry and it scabs and then goes away.

She is feeling lots better. I can't believe the improvement in 2 1/2 days. I am glad we caught it early and didn't wait to take her until we got home.
These things can get nasty really fast especially on the double coated dogs.

Elias had some diaper rashes that looked that bad as a baby. I always felt so bad for him. He has eczema so really any skin thing starts to look BAD a lot sooner. I am glad she's looking/feeling better and hopefully it's 100% healed up soon!

My daughter used to go down for a nap with just a couple red dots and wake up with a huge bleeding rash sometimes. I had to use special diapers and creams and all sorts of stuff with her. Did you know that liquid Mylanta (antacid) helps protect "the area" from the acid of the urine in a diaper? Just one of many things I learned along the way. Mylanta, Silvadene topical and Lotrimin were mainstays of her diaper wearing years. I was never so happy to potty train anyone in my life!

Sorry, for the digression.....Glad Janey is doing better!

Yep knew it! It's the same reason Drag Queen's paint it on their underarms, upper lips and foreheads...blocks moisture teehee!
