I'm glad Max is doing better. Sorry I didn't respond sooner; life has been futs! Anywho, I don't remember if they told us her broken toe was weight-bearing. Since she was so young (about 5 mos at the time) the big concern was how it would grow, so they put her in a splint for 6 weeks. That was definitely overkill. When they took all the tape off the last time, she had broken the splint in three places. After about a week in it she was jumping from the couch over the coffee table, so I think she would have likely been fine with it taped for a week or so. The best thing would have been to keep her off of it, but since she has always had a mind of her own (eg. jumping the coffee table) the splint seemed necessary.
