    Default Names for Dane

Ok, I have some names picked out but want some more ideas. Blue baby (girl) is Hungarian, the personalities of the parents are driven, focused on handler and goofy, was told they would make good search and rescue dogs. My last dog was named after a Kuwaiti truck driver that I worked with. I only had one name that I liked for Basja and was lucky it worked for her, this time I'd like to have more than one just in case. I'll get to AKC names later.
So my choices so far are:
Loza- means vibrant/exuberant, was also the name of another person I met in my travels
    Tuala- means princess
    Aouli- means firmament/arch of heaven/sky
Lirey- a town in France, no special association

Anything that has to do with "blue", Hungary, ect....??? Ideas?

    Dog or bitch?
Zoltan, name of a few famous hungarians. I think it's a cool name...but if you are getting a bitch then not so much LOL.
Kasumi is mist in Japanese and would be a nice play on the color. Kah-soo-me is how you say it.
Tetsu-Ko is the name of the Shoguns favorite hawk in the book Shogun by Clavell. Her name meant "Lady of Steel" or "Steel Lady".
Freya-Norse goddess of love, but also a warrior.
Hexe-is German for witch very fun to say (hecksuh).
    Silke-German female name (silk-uh)

I don't know why, but I'm in love with the name Freya after seeing that post Gina. There's just something about it that sounds so pretty and unique.

I like the mist or fog theme! Might look that up in other languages. I love the Celtic names but don't know if I should stick to her 'heritage', I sort of did with Basja, just altered a letter.

Well, I used to groom for a team of imported Hungarian horses - so I know a few names, harness parts and a boat load of swear words. I think I'll stick with the names! lol!
Csillag - pronounced Cheel-ag means star.
Vihar - pronounced Vee- harr means storm
Lepke - pronounced Lep-kuh means butterfly
Balaton - pronounced Bal-uh-tone is the name of a large and beautiful lake
    Gesa - pronounced Gay-suh is just a guy's name
My old boss's name was Tibor - a very Hungarian name (Tee-borr).

That's all my family safe, non tack related Hungarian

Ohhhh - I love all the names! I think I like Kasumi and Gesa the best, but only for a girly dog, no manly dog would ever want those names!

Danes are German so there's the heritage with some of the ones I posted. You could always also call her BrunHilde.

I would go to www.behindthename.com it is a comprehensive data base for names and their meanings by country, language, religion, and mythology.

But for "Blue" feminine I got: Aoi (japanese), Azure (English), Azurra (Italian), Cyan (Eng), Indigo (Eng), Nila (East Indian), Nilima (East Ind), Shyama (Ind., Hindu), Sini (Finnish), Teal (Eng), Viorka (Romanian), Vishnu (Ind., Hindu)

You cannot use Indigo. That would be very confusing when she's at our house.

You could go with the Shakespearean approach: Ophelia (Hamlet doesn't work...bad pun and you're getting a girldog)
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion,
It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed,
The hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning,

If you're getting punny, she should be named Saga.
Saga is a Dane-ish blue (cheese)

I kinda like the way that sounds- with a glutteral "g". Or it might sound like I have a furball caught in my throat.

As I seem to be out of the loop, I take it that since you are looking into getting a dog, this means you've found a job and a home? Do you have a location?

I have a place to stay (back in MN) and am doing military trips each month while job hunting. I did not expect to get a dog like this but I figured I might as well potty train while job hunting so when I do have to work it will be easier.

If it is a girl, name her Jodi.

Sorry, that is all I got.
