    Default Truman's issues

back I want to try and keep this as short as possible but not sure if I will - sorry in advance.

I spoke with the vet this evening about the most recent blood panel - it came very similar to the first one on the 12th.

Tests, xrays & ultrasound have cleared his heart, lungs, pancreas, liver. No obstructions.

Now what is strange is that EVERYTHING that is going on with him now is exactly the same as 3 years ago (to the date even) when he was misdiagnosed with Addison's Disease.

Vet has narrowed it down to 3 things and has also discussed with colleagues that agree.

    1. A mystery infection some where that he's fighting.

    2. Auto-immune disease (Addison's)

    3. Leukemia

He said to call in the morning with questions, thoughts, and together we'd try to pick a direction to go in.

My gut tells me to treat it like the first time, 3 years ago where he received antibiotics and a course of prednisone. BUT, if it's Addison's the pred will need to be out of his system for 30 days I believe before he can be tested for it but without it he could die.

Leukemia - we would need to tap into his bone marrow and all I see here are $$$$$ on top of the $$$ I spent this week that the DH is not yet aware of and will blow a gasket when he does. I would sell my house to treat Truman, the DH on the other hand... the downside of having a family.

There are so many thoughts and questions swirling around in my head that I about to start rambling so I'll stop here.

    Thanks for reading.

Poor Tru! If you are interested in trying holistic (an immune system booster), I had Basja on K9 Immunity while she was ill- they seemed to help since her cancer was caused to immune issues.

OH, Laura, I'm so sorry to hear this. Have you thought about having a second opinion look at the blood work? Even trusting your vet completely, sometime a second set of eyes sees something one set doesn't. Just a thought, although I do understand the $$$ limitations. Good thoughts heading your way!!!

Is there a vet oncologist in the area where you could get some info. I would definitely want that leukemia ruled out first. With questions of canine cancer I don't mess with regular vets anymore. I sure hope not. I hope you can get to the bottom of the big guys issues. For him and for you.

For it to be Leukemia, wouldn't the platelet count need to be anything other than normal along with the high wbc?

My gut is telling me we are seeing symptoms for 2 things not one. (or is that denial?)

With the chronic leukemia's in dogs they say it is almost undetechtable that is why I would want a vet oncologist to look at the lab work.

Oh Laura, I so hope and pray that you can get to the bottom of this and onto treating him and getting him better. I would agree with a second opinion if possible.

Im curious about why the Addison's wouldnt show up again till now if Tru has been off the pred for a while now? I think you are on to something symptoms of multiple things. Big hugs for you guys!
