    Default Novartis Production

The vet behaviorist that we see for Abby's anxiety just advised that we place an order for 2-3 bottles of Abby's Clomicalm because Novartis, the company that makes Clomicalm, has temporarily stopped production of Clomicalm among other medications because of a problem at their plant. This may effect the availability of the medication for several weeks or possibly several months. She did not say whether the production of any other medications was impacted, but I just thought I'd pass this along in case anyone else uses this medication or other medicines from Novartis. She did say that we also had the option of switching to a generic for Abby, although I think the generic is available in a different dosage than what Abby is on.

Good to know, does that also include all of their meds made for humans?

I would presume so? I just quickly looked to see what information I could find and I guess there was a voluntary recall of some OTC medicines because of drug mix ups, and additionally a plant was closed: http://www.aafp.org/online/en/home/p...tisrecall.html

I just wish I could find a complete list! Another publication mentioned that Interceptor was affected, but I haven't heard official word for Abby on that either.

Really good to know because they make Sentinel (our heartworm prevention). Bogey has his physical on Monday so I'll buy a couple of boxes when I'm at the vet.
