    Default Ticks!

    Ticks ticks and more ticks!

We go hiking behind my house everyday for our daily walk and I swear if i'm not pulling a tick off Zen every week or so. We finally had to resort to Advantix but even using that... (which is prescribed and expensive) it only seems to help for about a week or so and then I find them on her again. Any body got good recommendations for holistic tick control? I'm starting to get pretty desperate.

There are products based on cedar oil that are supposed to repel ticks (and other bugs, too).

Nothing keeps them off unfortunately. Supposedly with the advantix they die before they have the chance to be infected. that being said I have had 2 get lyme disease, one on advantix and one on frontline.

Alot of people I know who do field work with their goldens have switched to Vectra along with a Scalibor collar when out in the field. They've had good results.

We're Vectra users here too. Our dogs have been on it for probably 4 years now, maybe even longer. We used it in IL and are on it now in TX and we've been happy with it. We used Frontline before switching to Vectra 3D and when we first moved to TX we couldn't get Vectra at any of the vets down here so switched back to Frontline and we've never had any issues with Frontline either.

And, I should do a big knock on wood now!
