    Default Kuranda Beds (Shannon??)

I know Shannon has at least one of these because I've seen the pics, but anyone else?

Any recommendations on which frame and/or fabric to purchase? We are looking at getting a set of these beds for Tek and Morgan. They each have fabric beds ... but, especially where we are now, they lay in the dirt outside, then come in and lay on their beds which get completely filthy. Yes, we can wash them, but they'd have to be washed every other day to stay clean and not stink so much. The close quarters now make it seem worse, I think. Not to mention the hair that accumulates on them, which means I end up having to vacuum before throwing in the wash. It's a hassle.

So, I've been thinking about the Kuranda beds because they seem much easier to clean. Also, since it's sturdy enough for outside, we can always throw them out there for a while. We've left the pups outside one or two days while we were at work, when the weather was nice enough so they aren't cooped up inside. If we get a set and like them, we'll probably get another set just to keep outside at some point in the future. Mostly to keep them out of the dirt ... unsure if that will actually help or not, but it's the thought process

    Any suggestions?

Kendra has one too and has the link. She will also give recommendations because there are different types of frames I believe.

I was going to get one but the price tag scared me off a bit.

I have two. One is made with the cordura and has the PVC frame. Wouldn't buy this type again.....not with bigger dogs. The other one I highly recommend. It is the biggest one they make and has the 40oz vinyl. The entire frame is aluminum. Initially, they were sold with PVC corners and legs. But when they came out with the aluminum corners and legs, I upgraded those pieces. The bed is moved outdoors when it's a nice day and the dogs want to spend time out there. So it's been in the sun/elements......I've sprayed it off, wiped it down, etc. and you can't even tell there's any wear on that bed! I've had it for about 3 years now. The price tag is well worth it!!!! I am getting ready to buy another bigger one so each one of the danes has one to sleep on. Money well spent.......plus no odor!

I have aluminum and cordura (almost 4 years now). It has been peed on, puked on, and sh*t on and I have thrown the fabric in the washer as well as hosing in the tub or outside. The only bad thing is if you take the fabric off DO NOT PUT it in the dryer. It does shrink a bit and can be a pita to reframe even when air dried. I have bleached mine as well and the color held. The aluminum one holds me and the the dog, I'm impressed! My next one will be just the breathable weave, but it won't be accident proof.

hmmmmm...maybe this is what I should look into. I have one of those bed saks I got from Karma charms, but it isn't quite big enough for Daisy for I have to put a smaller bed at the end. She doesn't curl up when she sleeps, she lays out. I was going to get a twin mattress, but maybe this would do the trick.

Crib mattresses work really well, too. I'm thinking of getting a couple of kurandas in the next year. I know Swissy people who use them in crates.

i had a crib mattress, but they aren't big enough either. She stretches all the way out when she sleeps and her poor little head hangs off.

Oh, thanks for the tips ladies!! That's exactly what I needed to know ... Good thing to know about the aluminum, because I was looking at the standard.

are they bigger than a crib mattress? I know some toddler beds you use a crib mattress on. If not, they may do the trick.
