    Default Day Care Report

So this morning I dropped Murphy off at his doggie day care. He hasn't been there since February 12. I brought with me his updated fecal records and his new doggie license. The owner then asked if I was in a hurry because she wanted to ask me something. I couldn't imagine what it would be.
So she says, "Is he nippy with you at home? He is nippy and mouthy with me but I asked everyone else and they said he isn't with them."
I was pretty surprised at this and told her when he was younger he would only get mouthy when he needed to poop but that he hasn't done that in a very long time, now he rings his bells.

I just feel like she waited months to say something and I don't understand why. I already sent her an email this morning. Maybe she is trying to kick him out? I can't imagine that. Murphy is pretty mild mannered.

Just made me feel super uncomfortable. Now waiting to hear back on the email from her.

Maybe she felt it would be best if she spoke to you in person and this was the first opportunity? I don't know... I'm kind of surprised she asked you if nobody else was having issues with him. I wonder what it is about her that makes him mouthy.

I'm have no clue why he would be mouthy with her and nobody else. When he gets super excited to see my parents and friends who he loves and wants attention from he gets jumpy the first 5 minutes and then calms down (we continue to work on that-haha).

It was the first opportunity to speak in person but I also wonder if he is being confused with another Swissy who may have been there more recently. Doubt that though.

Oh well, guess I just wait and see if she emails me back or I will ask this afternoon when I pick him up.

she must be putting out some squeaky toy vibes. Some people do...they reek of it! Hope it blows over and he can stay on...maybe you could set up and observation with you 3...you looking thru a window when he doesn't see you, etc?

It might just be her approach or the way she interacts with him? It is odd to me that she brought it up even though she said she has asked others and nobody else has the problem. She may just honestly be trying to figure out why it is only her though since she knows he isn't that way with others. Hope this doesn't become a big deal.

Me either! He has been going to this daycare place for over a year now with no problems. In fact, they picked him as one of their featured dogs in the spring quarterly last year. And he boarded there last summer. Hopefully its nothing but it got me nervous.

Hmmm strange... I wonder if she wears scented lotions on her hands that he likes the taste of and get him excited? just a thought.

Or perhaps just the way she uses her hands? There are weirdo things my dogs do to different people but not others. Maxine sniffs then licks Adam's ears. No one else's. Just his. Oddest thing...

Or maybe he really likes her? I know Copper gets mouthy with us when he wants to play.

I don't think it sounds like anything to worry about. I agree, I think it was for her own information and nothing against Murphy.

Everything is fine! Spoke with them when I picked him up and got this email:

    Hi Melissa,

Sarah was just curious if he did it with other people since he doesn’t do it to other staff. It’s really not a problem and we think he’s only trying to play, but wanted to ask out of curiosity. Sometimes the dogs do pick a staff member as their playmates and approach us the same way they’d approach a dog to play. J

I'm guessing he just really loves that staff member then. Worse things could happen.

Glad to hear....Cole is really mouthy but only to be playful and only if he likes someone (he really doesn't like people he doesn't know at all) so if he is being mouthy it means he likes you. That probably sounds like I am a really bad pet mom that being mouthy is showing affection but Cole has a things with strangers.
