haha, it really isn't that bad. Honestly, the worst part for me is having one of them secluded - which in reality is nothing! That's just so far though, I'll let you know how this next week goes. Greg on the other hand is NOT a fan, haha. We purchased Ruger as show quality, but we haven't shown her at all yet because there's no other Swissies to show against down here and to me it didn't really make sense to travel to shows with her as a puppy. Anyway, she's fairly petite, but nicely built and still has a lot of filling out to do, so we're kind of at a wait and see point as to whether or not she will be shown or spayed. Ultimately it's her breeder's (and co-owners) call, but Greg is really pushing for not show so she can be spayedI'd like to also mention that he was only here for 3 days of it and then flew off to Singapore where he'll be for another week so I don't know what he's complaining so much about. I'm also not sure how he was able to get her to time it so the majority of it would happen while he was far, far away

I'm curious then...does your co-own agreement give the breeders the right to yay or nay the spay? Wow, lots of AYs.

Yep. Since she was bought as a show dog and if they still think she is show quality she should be shown and therefore not spayed. We can show her or have them show her. But, we can't spay her unless they give the okay to do so.

Interesting. We have a co-own with Indy, but there were no obligations to show and we could spay at any time.

Interesting. I know everyones contracts are different though. Do you get full registration then once she's spayed?

Yes.

I am curious, now...what is the advantage of having a full registration after she is spayed? The limited registration just prevents offspring from being registered, but doesn't limit the dog/bitch in any other way does it?
Jen & Cash
She was fully registered in the first place. But it was in our names and the breeders. Now that Indy is fixed, her full registration goes to us and not as a co-own.

Got it. That makes sense to me.

people have been known to spay and neuter out of spite. Things can get that bad yes...it's best to have things covered lol. Co owns are not my cup of tea but I have done them...sometimes there are good reasons for doing so. I am about to sign off on one soon matter of fact. Long as both ends do their part they're fine.

I potentially have 3 puppys (besides my own) to be going to show homes... one is a judge and breeder, and then another breeder and then one person who wants to start showing... I will most likely put that puppy on a co own because if she matures to still be show quality then I really want her out there not just in a pet home. Unfortunatly, I want to be in control of that and vice versa... if she isnt show potential then I dont want her out there and bred. I dont think id be the unreasonable type tho but who knows.
To be honest some of my least fun experiences have been with other breeders. They just are a bit too cavalier sometimes in deciding 6mos/a year down the road that the pup is not what they want and then any number of interesting things, can occur. Give me pet homes, any day. *sigh* but I don't have to worry about that anymore lol. I'm retired!
