So, how do I convince Jasper that since he now lifts his leg, that every stationary outdoor object was not put on earth just for him to pee on it? How embarrassing.![]()

Please, if you figure it out, let me know! Troll pees on every stinkin' bush we walk past - and poor Tinker will not pee unless she is in our yard!
I love my big guy but I think I should have stuck with Girlie Girls LOL
How am I going to take him places.
What if he pees on someone ???
There is no statue safe if we go to DC this weekend.
Truman has actually pee'd on another dog. A dog he played with on occasion - then one day - bam!
*giggle*
Baron peed on one of my moms plants....that was INSIDE!!!
I honeslty do not know how he has that much pee in him. We can go for a 3 mile walk and at the very end he is still peeing on stuff!
I shouldn't be laughing, but I am.
Beowulf doesn't lift his leg. I don't think he can. Maybe make Jasper think he's got short legs? Sorry, I've got nuthin.

Bryn doesn't lift either. He sort of picks up his leg and angles it out. Kind of like an arabesque. Very manly.
oh my this made me giggle. it is funny with boy dogs. Spencer, when he really has to pee he sorta squats, but on walks he is marking the whole way.
copper used to lift his leg on EVERYTHING. we started checking him and walking him on a short leash because our 10 minute walks were taking an hour. we'll let him sniff now and then, but if we're on the go he gets corrected if he meanders too long. now he just pees and kills our lawn.
Huntley also pees on everything. Last week at the dog beach, he was sniffing a beach chair, Cleo went to sniff the same chair just when Huntley decided it needed marking, he peed in her face. I agree with you Pam, we should have stuck with girl dogs!
If you are worried about him, but a belly band on him. When the pee doesn't flow like he wants it to, he may be discouraged.

Not desperate to use a belly band thingy yet. I just didn't know if he would "outgrow" this as in" I am so proud look at what I can do cause I am a big boy now" LOL
I mean its not horrible its just not what I am used to. I just picture us in DC walking by an outdoor eatery and him deciding the table leg looks inviting. Glad Verne usually walks him LOL
I think we will try the short leash thing for a bit in crowded tourists type areas.
He is not going to "outgrow" it...You just have to manage it...it is ingrained in his DNA to leave his scent everywhere...
Bogey can't wait to lift his leg on everything when we take our walk...He runs out the door and pees on the first blade of grass he sees...
If he starts to lift his leg on something inappropriate a quick tug on the leash and "let's go!" and he's on the move again...I've never found it to be a big problem...
Now watching big ole' boy balls swinging around - that's an issue...LOL..

No big ole boy balls here...remember I joined" My dogs don't need balls I have enough for the both of us" LOL
I uh 'assign" a pee area.. Granted- males love to 'read the paper" and the urge to mark " thats mine", is a common problem.
Maybe try this- start by when you first take him, go to a spot. ( pick one- but the same each time). As he urinates, associate a word with it " hurry up" in a low gentle calm tone of voice.
Then back in the house.. Wait a bit, go back out- same thing..
Notice he is learning that word is pee, and once understood, the rest is just " no".. ( ie it wasn't 'hurry up" or whatever the word is.
As crazy as it sounds, this worked with Zubin and Hottie before him. The concept of learning when its okay and when its not.
My dogs can turn on a dime, and give you eleven cents changeMichelle
My female Hera marks more than ANY of my boys. Its difficult to even take her on a walk or jog so the boys dont have the naughty market cornered
Hera lifts up her leg! Its really disturbing
