Canine Nutritionalist" can be reached by Certification. At this point it is a certification- like a dog trainer.
When I started feeding raw, 26 years ago that I can remember- probably more than that- but thats good enough, " we" rare feeders were considered " radicals". Afterall - most of us learn " do not give bone " etc- or other myths of raw.
The last straw for me to convert over, was two incidents- first was a struggle in a well known, well praised dog food ( at the time), but the last straw was losing a beloved girl of mine name "Echo", to bloat. While 'kibble" is not always linked to bloat- I could not shake that memory..
So .. I start feeding raw- going by basics of meat/bone etc considered ratios.
I wanted to study 'canine nutrition" but really- at the time- it was word of mouth by those that did.
While a "Canine Nutritionalist", there is now certification. This gives you an idea of the course. http://www.e-trainingfordogs.com/Courses/BBB_PartI.php
Now- other courses are available, but this gives the general idea of how this works.
Granted- most of us operate off of experience, and while courses like that is a general, it seems like a good base to have.
