Default Positive thoughts, *crossed fingers*, prayers -- for Delilah, please

Delilah is undergoing TPO surgery today on her right hip due to hip dysplasia. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She has to stay at the ortho hospital until Friday to keep her mostly immobile. I'm worried about the surgery and also how she'll take this hospital stay.

I've brought food for her, toys, treats, her bed, etc.

Wow you decided to go for it. I bet she will do really well. I worried about Jasper at the hospital too and he did just fine. The girls loved on him the entire time. Sometimes I think it is harder on the Momma's.
    Keep us posted.

She will do fine...TPLO is harder on you than them...They get the good drugs...

    Good luck! ((hugs))

Thanks so much, everyone. It means a lot.

We do get to go visit her, but they said that if she is really excitable it may be harder on her with us coming and going. We plan to visit her but will take their advice when it comes to whether our visits would be beneficial for her or not. I hate the thought of coming and going and leaving her there repeatedly. I'm hoping they decided to lightly sedate her so that she is quiet and the time passes for her quickly.

I brought her two big bags of stuff and her bed and the tech was a little overwhelmed by the volume of stuff. I told them to just rotate her toys.

Pam, we did decide to go for it. This surgery is supposed to prevent pain and arthritis later, so I am hoping like crazy that it does just that. Everything I read said that if the hip is a good candidate for that surgery then it's really a good one to do. With her being so darn young, I want to make sure our decision gives her the best outlook for a pain-free life.

Thanks again for your positive thoughts, everyone!

    Wonderful news!
You might want to look at adding like glycoflex 3 to her diet. Its a daily supplement, and great for dogs that had surgeries of this type.

    Thank you all so much!

I just got an update from the hospital. Delilah was rock solid during her surgery and her post-operative x-rays look perfect. She's resting comfortably on some good happy drugs now (Kim, you were totally right, the tech said that Delilah is very content on her drugs looking like she may not know exactly where she is, but that she seems to be just fine with that).

I'm so relieved that all went well!

    Wonderful News!
And yes- they are quite happy on their 'drugs', and just rest up, not expecting the body to have to get up if they see " Momma".
Are you all ready? Towel to help lift etc?
I am so relieved to hear all went well!

I saw that look when Raleigh had his done...Big ole' dialated pupils but obviously in no pain...LOL...
They had told me he would be toe touching within 24 hours and I didn't believe them...But he was...He did great and he was OLD when he had that done...
It is a pretty amazing procedure...Big improvement over the old days...

I hope so! After today, I'd really appreciate happy meds!

Michelle, when they release her to us on Friday, they are providing a hind-end sling/harness thingy that will help us help her to walk.

    Ah yes...the belly sling...

Do you have something to put down on your floors? Where I had tile/hardwood I went to Walmart and got the really cheap carpet runners...I made a path from the crate to the door...
