    Default Dog Aggression

First off, this is not about Kayla.
Friend of mine is having some pretty serious aggression problems with his dogs and is looking for ideas.
    Quick background.
Seven dogs in all. 2 Rottweilers, 2 German Shepards, a Pit Bull, a Border Collie, and a Terrier mix.
He's out in the country and has 1/2 acre fenced in, so space isn't a problem. The GSD's are older, around 10. The Rotties are younger, 2ish. Not sure about the others. People tend to leave dogs on his porch, and he can't turn away a stray.
Problem is, both Rot's AND the Pit Bull want to be dominate. The last couple weeks, they've been picking on the Border Collie. I guess today was pretty bad.
His solution when this started was to keep them separated. That's well and good, but he has enough health problems, it's not always easy for him to rotate 'em in and out while his wife is at work.
    That's what happened today.

My first thought was that the Border Collie needs to go. Not fair to her I know, but it's to the point that they're worried about her safety. Since she seems to be the trigger, removing her might settle things down and at least give him some breathing room. (Not to mention keeping her in one piece.)

Truth be told, I think the Pit Bull and the Terrier should go too. I think part of the problem is 7 dogs are too much for him with all his medical problems. I just figured I'd ask the forum for ideas before I tell my buddy he needs to get rid of half his dogs.

    Any thoughts?

If the BC is the Omega and she leaves it's quite possible another of the dogs will get that dubious "honor" in her place. He needs to get a behaviorist out to observe and take control of the dogs. Rotts are known for same dog/sex issues (it is addressed in the breed standard as I recall)....so are GSD's...not a good mix of breeds, IMO. He might also consider that.

I agree with Gina (and with you)...He has too many breeds with dominant tendencies...I just don't see how this situation will work long term...I can see this ending badly...

Sorry, thought I had said who was what.

Both the Rotts, and the GSDs are M/F pairs. The PB is male, the BC is female. Not sure about the terrier.
Not sure if any are neutered, and no idea which one is the most recent.

I should note, that we were real good friends back 20-25 years ago, but we lost track of each other when he moved out of state, and we just recently reconnected on line. When he was local, I knew his dogs real well. So when I have to stop and ask him about the dogs, that's why.

I appreciate the answers so far, just wish you guys weren't agreeing with me.

I am a trainer, and even then confused.. This is quite a crew of dogs. In other words- a group of dogs that by breed, need clear definition of what is what...
