    Default Suggestions please

So, Huntley has managed to lose every tag we've put on him. His rabies, park, Chicago park and ID. All of them were on separate holders, the "S" thing the rabies tags come with, "o" rings, the spiral round tag holders. I'm at a loss. Short of physically stapling or sewing them to his body(I'm just joking!!!), anyone have any fool proof tag holder ideas?

LOL Deb - great minds think alike - I was going to suggest [sarcastically] stapling them to his ears.

Could you put them on a ring and then get the ring welded shut?

How about one of the collars with a name plate on it? Like these.

Huntley and Birdie are related...Bogey still has his original tags I got him when I first brought him home...
Birdie has been through about five sets of tags...She's micro-chipped...I just finally gave up...

We use a small lightweight carabiner that screws closed (called a screwgate carabiner). I don't know if it would work for you or not, but it might be worth a try. They can sometimes be found as keychains. Carabiners don't pull apart under stress like those "o" and "s" rings and the screwgate keeps it extra secure.

I've resorted to a regular heavy duty key ring- the ones that overlap 2X's. It's a b*tch to get on if you have 3-4 tags on it but it stays on. Is he losing collars or just tags?

Thanks everyone! I tried some screwing carabiners (that sounded dirty) that we bought at REI, they came unscrewed. He's losing just the tags, the spiral "o" ring is hanging from his collar, empty. He is microchipped, but somehow the ease of someone being able to look at a tag and having my phone number right there makes me feel comfort. Kendra, I think that's a good idea, that will be my next try, when the new tag comes in the mail. I'm just not used to having a dog that plays so hard. My two couch potatoes also have all they tags I've ever gotten them, I have to thin their tag ring every year.

How about a brad tag for the collar? ... Like this- notice it attaches with rivots right to the collar. You put your information on it, microchip number, rabies tag number etc. http://tagsandmore.com/dnn/BrassIDTa...7/Default.aspx

Hey Deb, how 'bout something like this that attaches to the collar?

Leather Pet Pocket - ID Tag Holder
Provides instant identification and eliminates annoying tag noise. Top-grain leather Pet Pocket features heavy duty stitching and key ring for pet tags. Slides easily onto collar through elastic loop, closes with velcro. Includes a waterproof ID card. Elastic webbing easily attaches to any collar. The regular size Pet Pocket fits collars up to 2" wide -- the Junior up to 1-1/4" wide.

    You could try these
    http://www.etsy.com/shop/makeyourdog...ion_id=6824075

The bar is thicker than a flat tag, and goes directly on the ring as opposed to a round ring which is thinner and has more points for failure.

Well, the new tag came and I'm using the heavier ring (thanks Kendra!). When/if he loses this one, I've just marked that etsy page as a favorite so I can find it again. Those are very cool (thanks Ang!)
