    Default Baron's Foot:(

Here is the backstory: Baron has always has red/brown color on his toenails. About 6-7mo ago he started getting the same coloration between his toes and on top of one of his feet. I had a consultation for him and we decided to treat it as if it were yeast. so i bought this big expensive yeast kit. It is a slow process and the total time he should be on it is 1yr. I started it about 2.5mo ago. At first it was going great, his foot was healing really well and there was almost nothing on the top of his foot. Until about a week ago, now it it worse than it ever has been. The area around his toes are red and swollen. He has LOTS of discoloration between the toes now and it seems painful for him I was told that the problem will get worse as the body detoxifies the yeast before it gets better. But im confused because it got a lot better, NOW it's worse!! Im so frustrated and confused.

I tried to clean it last night but he really didn't want me messing with it. Also, it's kind of greesy so Im not sure that putting water/solution on it is the best thing for him. Any thoughts on what I should do next? Another trip to the vet? give it some time???

I noticed this problem got really bad once we switched his food. Other than this he does so well on this food and since he has had soooo many bowel problems Im very reluctant to change his food

Uh there is a mite that makes a greasy feeling.. I can not remember the name but I will refind it. Then the dog is treated with a special shampoo/meds.. brb

We had a foster years ago that had this.

Hm, I wish I had a picture of Copper's pink paws. He lost almost ALL the fur on his paws when he was about 1 1/2. And they were BRIGHT pink. Started out as an allergy and changed into an infection. We treated the infection with antibiotics and then the allergies with Hydroxizine, sort of like benedryl, but benedryl was like candy to him. Didn't do anything.

I don't know what's going on with Baron's paw, but I sure hope it's all better soon!

No real idea either...Could possibly be a staph of some sort...

Can I ask what sort of "yeast kit"? Just curious...
I've treated yeast in the past with something like diflucan and/or monistat and it cleared up quickly...

Maybe if you posted a picture of it, people might recognize it and be able to assist.

I have no idea myself, but good luck!

pink is usually too much yeast in the body and a food allergy.. my 11 year old has major food allergies and gets seborrea which is nasty and greasy and scaley skin... anyway... usually just chaging her food to a higher quality grain free or different protein fixes it.

I would think allergies... Apollo is suffering right now because of the grass and pollen and rufus has the reddish color on his paws from licking, its just stained.

I really am thinking it has something to do with his food. It has always been there but got worse when we switched his food. Right now he is eating Merrik Before Grain Buffalo. He does soooo well on this food I really don't want to change it unless I absolutely have to. He has IBD and Im afraid I'll mess up his system if I change his food again. I do have a list I can go off of but BG was the easiest for me to get and it has worked so well. I did make an appointment for him next week just in case it hasn't cleared up by then.

You are probably on to something...

Birdie kept yeast in her ears (it's a spaniel thing) and I thought she just going to have to live with it...I was cleaning her ears several times a week and treating her with drops from the vet...Our vet told us that she thought Birdie had a food allergy and to put her on a novel protein...She had been eating the regular Evo so I put her on TOTW Pacific Stream and I kid you not - within 7 days her ears were clear...Our vet could not believe it...

I now avoid all poultry products with her and she hasn't had an ear infection since...Our vet says she has the cleanest ears he has ever seen on a spaniel...She gets no poultry products at all...
