    Default Cash meets baby

Oh boy! My cousin just left our house. She brought her baby by for a visit. Annie is only 4 months old. Cash desperately wanted her to play. He kept play bowing and barking. My cousin has a Pit Bull, a large Lab and a beagle, so she's used to big dogs being around the baby and knew Cash was just excited. The only problem was he wouldn't stop barking at Annie. Neither Annie or my cousin were fazed by all the noise, but I have never had him bark so much. We let him sniff her plenty and treated him when he sniffed then sat or laid down. We even put Annie on the floor with my cousin and I flanking her and Sita at one end. Cash sniffed her a lot and then he did settle a little, but he was still very excited. I treated him every time he laid down and ignored her for even a second. I gave him a peanut butter filled Kong and that helped for a bit, then I got him to chew on his antler for a while. He just really wanted to play with her. He wasn't being rough at all, just vocal.

Well, at least after so much excitement he'll sleep the rest of the day away...

Hm, sounds like a swissy to me. They LOVE their babies! Copper's breeder always said that she couldn't show his mom with ANY kids around the ring 'cause she'd bolt to them!

Part of that craziness will go away as he gets older, I think. But it is totally a Swissy thing. Unless your name is Indy.

    Cute.
My neighbor has a 3yr old and Baron has only seen him twice. They were out in the car over the weekend and his mother asked if the boy could pet him. So I let Baron stick his big head in the car, next thing I know he's jumped in the car and tried to sit down next to the kid. He couldn't figure it out before I made him get out Swissies are so cute with their kids

Cash adores children. He is very sweet and gentle with toddlers. I think he just doesn't know they're kids until they start walking. He had no idea what that baby was or what to do with her....so, as Swissy Code dictates: "When in doubt, bark at it...a LOT!"

Well, Cash is still a baby, so it's not too surprising. He'll figure it out a bit more when he gets older.

I think its great he had a good reaction to her. My girls are the same way with my brothers boy. Hes 1. Shiloh and Freedom also wanted to play with Carolina. I think it was Freedom who accidently body blocked carolina when she was little. One of the haxards of big puppers.

Just a thought work on "place" I know your pups young but this is a great tool. We had a party recently and someone came who is really afraid of dogs. I put my girls in place for 4 hours and she was able to hang out with us without being scared. The girls had things to do but they had to stay on their beds. It was great because I could walk around and talk and knew they were fine. It rained that day so I was in the house but still knew my girls were not up to no good. Like going right up to this person and trying to convince her they were really great dogs and just about climbing in her lap as leos like to do with new people. They were also not checking out plates.
